Creating a captivating and thrilling fear play experience is an intricate process that blends careful planning, strong communication, and progression, while honoring everyone’s boundaries and limits. This class is designed to introduce participants to the psychological and emotional facets, highlighting their ability to ignite arousal in the body. We will take a closer look at the physiological impacts of fear as well such as heart rate and temperature changes. Participants will learn about possible responses like fight, flight, freeze, or fawn and understand how to navigate these reactions safely, especially during the intensity of this type of scene. Key negotiation practices are emphasized, teaching participants to thoughtfully discuss which limits can be gently pushed while ensuring comfort and safety. Explore the use of verbal tactics designed to increase suspense such as a whispered threat. The course will also cover grounding techniques to help process, both during and after your time. We will go over what aftercare and debriefing can look like to ensure that everyone is well cared for. Environmental factors and how they can heighten tension will be explored, alongside practical tips on utilizing costumes and/or props to evoke specific headspace responses.
Our time includes constructing scenes with practical skills on de-escalating intensity when necessary. An essential component of the class is understanding trauma-informed practices such as recognizing and respecting personal triggers to ensure the fear play remains positive and does not unintentionally reveal past traumas. From beginners to advanced, the class covers creating mental scripts with backup plans, and exploring long-duration engagements, such as evening or weekend events. Attendees will learn to harness senses to disorient and intensify sensations. Let’s talk about the dynamics of involving multiple people, whether directly engaged or on the periphery! We will cover ways to ensure that receivers prepare mentally and physically for the experience as well as contribute as an active participant.
